The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), offers financial support for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who come from economically and socially underserved communities across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, representing its rich cultural and geographical diversity.
Since its beginning in 2006, the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program has collaborated with premier American-style colleges to provide participants with the information and practical skills required for effective leadership. By studying at premier institutions like the American University in Cairo, the American University of Beirut, and the Lebanese American University, students develop critical thinking abilities and learn innovative approaches to address the challenges facing their communities, the MENA region, and the broader world.

Beyond academic excellence, Tomorrow’s Leaders engage in meaningful internships, civic-engagement activities, and specialized enrichment courses where they apply their learning in real-world environments. Participants become part of a vibrant network that offers holistic support, including mentorship and personal development programs.
After finishing the program, students will join a community of over 1,000 past students who are leaders throughout the MENA area.

Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Program
- Current high school seniors or 2024 graduates
- Applicants from Iraq, as well as Libya, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen, who finished their secondary education are also entitled.
- High school seniors must maintain strong academic performance and pass their final exams
- Demonstrated English proficiency (minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80 within two years of admission, by August 2025)
- Proven financial need, with supporting documentation
- Able to take trips and start courses by August 2025.
- Strong academic record, maturity, adaptability, and leadership skills
Graduate Program
- Documented academic English proficiency as required by the graduate program
- Intention to finish an advanced degree within the span of two years of study.
- Meet entrance requirements at the host university (specific details available on each institution’s website)
- Financial need, with supporting documentation
- Able to begin the graduate program by August 2025
- Strong academic record, maturity, flexibility, and leadership abilities
