How To Apply For The Fellowship 2025 New York?
While most fellows will be based in New York City, the fellowship is flexible, allowing for short trips to other parts of the U.S. if desired. Many fellows begin in New York City, where they take part in orientation activities, meet other participants, and connect with ACC staff.

Fellowship Benefits
The New York Fellowship provides a total award of $35,000 USD for the six-month program. Fellows are responsible for managing their grant funds according to their research needs and the high living expenses in New York City.
From the total grant amount, the following expenses will be deducted:
- DS-2019 J-1 visa processing fee: $220 USD.
- Health insurance: estimated at $150-200 USD.
- Housing at International House (optional): Approximately $18,000-19,000 USD for six months (subject to 2025 rates).
After deductions, fellows may receive around $15,580-$16,630 USD for the six months (roughly $2,596-$2,772 USD per month). Additionally, fellows are responsible for covering the $185 USD visa application fee (DS-160), flights, and other travel-related expenses. Fellows may request a $3,000 USD advance stipend before arrival to assist with travel costs.
Eligibility Criteria
In addition to general eligibility, applicants must meet these specific requirements:
- Be at least 21 years old by the fellowship start date.
- Have a minimum of five years of experience in an ACC-eligible field.
- Cannot be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Past recipients of the New York Fellowship are not eligible.
- If previously involved with an organization that received ACC funding, applicants should contact ACC to confirm their eligibility.
