The selection process is carefully structured. Up to 80 finalists are chosen and interviewed by five regional selection panels. From these, at least two recipients are selected in each of five regions: Quebec, Ontario, Prairies/Northwest Territories/Nunavut, Atlantic Canada, and British Columbia/Yukon. This organized process ensures a fair and comprehensive selection of deserving students across Canada.

Scholarships can be applied toward studies at any TD-approved Canadian college or university (“Approved School”). Scholarship recipients (“Recipients”) are responsible for securing admission to an Approved School of their choice, following that institution’s requirements and deadlines.

Note: If a recipient’s tuition is less than $10,000 per year, no additional funds will be provided to cover other expenses. Recipients who forgo their summer employment opportunity with TD are not entitled to receive the equivalent salary in any other form.

Benefits of the Scholarship

Each year, 20 TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their final year of high school (outside Quebec) or CEGEP (in Quebec) who have shown leadership in advancing their communities.

Each scholarship includes the following benefits, totaling up to $70,000:

  • Tuition Support: Up to $10,000 annually for a maximum of four years.
  • Living Expenses: $7,500 per year, up to four years.

Tuition payments will go directly to an approved school each year for up to four years, with a cap of CAD 10,000 per year. Living expenses are paid directly to the recipient annually at CAD 7,500 per year, for a maximum of four years.

Recipients are offered summer employment with TD for up to four summers, contingent upon providing documentation of their legal right to work in Canada. This includes recipients with protected person status under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be in their final year of high school (outside Quebec) or CEGEP (in Quebec).
  • Hold a minimum grade average of 75% (outside Quebec) or an R score of 26 (in Quebec) in their most recent school year.
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or hold protected person status under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. (Note: Those with protected person status must also obtain a study permit as allowed by the Act.)
  • Verify that all information provided in the program application and accompanying documents is complete, accurate, and truthful to the best of their knowledge.

Eligible Regions: Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies/Northwest Territories/Nunavut, and British Columbia/Yukon. Applicants must be available for an interview on the assigned date.

  4. Two signed reference letters from community groups, organizations, or individuals familiar with your leadership efforts. Electronic signatures are also acceptable.
